Unlock the Door to Homeownership
With over 23 years of experience in the mortgage industry, our Mortgage Lending Manager Mark Isquith's philosophy is that every member should have the best experience when buying or refinancing a home. Mark has some advice to get you started.
Is now the right time to buy a home? This can be a difficult question to answer. Especially if you listen to all the different news sources regarding the economy and more specifically housing and interest rates.
The first thing to do is put it all into perspective. When I sit down with our members, I always hear the same thing: that friends and family gave them advice. But they’re still not sure.
- Friends and family are great. But your first step should be a conversation with our mortgage lending team. This will give you a clear understanding of what is the right product for you in a market where interest rates are at a 20-year high. By understanding your financing and applying for a pre-approval, you can then start looking for the home that fits your financial objectives and your needs.
- A recent report by the real estate company McEnearney Associates, regarding the Washington D.C. and surrounding area, had an average listing time of 52 days. This is an advantage to a buyer. When a home sits on the market for that long, you often have a motivated seller who is willing to negotiate.
- What about today’s rates? They have gone up, but once interest rates start to fall, you can refinance your mortgage. But keep in mind that when rates fall the market will heat up quickly and we will be back to a seller’s market.
Buying a home is a big decision. However, we are here to help you understand the options and give you confidence. Let us help you open the door to your future!
